What I do with your information.

The short version. I collect what you type into my tools so I can send you your results and give you useful advice. I never sell it. It reaches a contractor only when you ask me to match you with one, and only the contractors we pick together. You can ask me to show you, correct, or delete everything I hold, any time, and I will.

Who this is

Build Advisor CA is a brand of TRF Consulting LLC. TRF Consulting LLC is the company behind this site and the one responsible for your information. Build Advisor CA is the name the pre-construction advisory service trades under, so that is the name you will see on the site, in the guides and in the emails. Where this policy says "I" or "we", it means TRF Consulting LLC doing business as Build Advisor CA. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.

What I collect

Only what you give me, plus the ordinary technical basics that any website receives.

What you type into a tool or form: your name and email address, and depending on the tool, your phone number, your city and ZIP code, the kind of project you are planning, its scope and stage, your timeline, your budget range, and the results the tool produced for you.
Technical basics: your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visited, collected automatically by my email provider and my web host. I use these to keep the site working and to see which pages are useful. I do not try to identify you from them.

Your phone number is optional on every form. Leave it blank and everything still works.

Why I collect it

To send you the results of the tool you just used.
To send you the free homeowner checklist and occasional pre-construction guidance for California homeowners. You can unsubscribe from any email, in one click.
To understand your project well enough to give you a useful answer if you ask for one.
If you ask to be matched, to introduce you to contractors who suit your project.

Who else sees it

These are the categories of third parties your information can reach.

Contractors, and only if you ask. Nothing about your project goes to a contractor unless you ask me to match you with one. When you do, I share only what a contractor needs to quote your job, and only with the contractors we choose together. If you never ask to be matched, no contractor ever sees your information.
My email and CRM provider stores your details and delivers my emails. Today that is MailerLite.
My web host serves the pages you visit and records standard server logs. Today that is Netlify.
My payment processor, if you ever buy something. Card details go straight to them and I never see or store your card number.
Anyone the law requires, if I am legally compelled to hand something over.

What I never do

I do not sell your information to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone you have not asked me to share it with. When you ask me to match you, you are directing me to share your project details with up to three contractors we choose together. Each of those contractors pays me a flat fee to receive that introduction, the same whether you hire them or not and whatever the price. That sharing happens only at your request, one project at a time. I do not post lists, trade lists, or pass your details to anyone unrelated to the introduction you asked for.

How long I keep it

Until you ask me to delete it, or until it stops being useful to either of us. If you unsubscribe I keep the bare minimum needed to honor that and stop emailing you.

Reviewing, correcting or deleting your information

Email info@buildadvisorca.com from the address you signed up with and tell me what you want. I will show you what I hold, fix anything wrong, or delete all of it. No hoops, no form to fill out, no reason required. I aim to answer within a few days and will not take longer than 45 days.

You can also unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it, which stops the emails immediately without needing to contact me at all.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for what a site should do with it, so, to be straightforward with you: this site does not respond to Do Not Track signals. I do not run advertising trackers and I do not build advertising profiles, so there is nothing here following you to other websites either way.

I do not allow third parties to collect information about your activity across other sites through my site.

Children

This site is for homeowners and is not aimed at anyone under 18. I do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent me something, email me and I will delete it.

If this policy changes

I will update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change actually matters, rather than being a wording tidy-up, I will say so by email to everyone on my list before it takes effect.
